Choose a photo that makes you remember that the earth is living, and like all that is living, she requires loving care. It could be a photo of nature, an animal, humans who care for the earth or also the hurts that the earth endures, when she is exploited and scorned.

Draw a picture on the same subject to show: how like all living things, the earth is sensitive and fragile, and also to help us recognize how beautiful and generous the earth is. If you prefer, you can trace or colour our pictures of the earth. You can e-mail us, and we will send you some drawings to colour or trace.

Write some words to express your thanks to our generous mother earth.

If you would like to help us prepare our web site, which will be ready by April 22, Earth Day, send us your contribution before April 20th by e-mail or by mail. If your contribution arrives after April 20th, it is not too late. We will continue adding contributions to our web site the whole month of April.

Who is this project for?

For anyone, young or old, who considers himself or herself a child of the earth.

This invitation was made for children, to empower them with a clear comprehension of the goal of this project and an opportunity to participate. However everyone, particularly those who interact with children, is invited to join us in this action, in which we can express our gratitude for this planet.

What are the objectives of this project?

Thank the earth is looking to initiate a spirit of compassion and recognition of our gratitude towards the earth, nature and all living things.
It is not a contest, it is a celebration in which participation is essential, it can be simple or very elaborate. Send a photo, a drawing or text. Sign it or not. Make a public gesture to express your personal view of our earth, no preparation or research is necessary. There is no pressure to perform, just a simple expression from your heart is all that is asked.

Who are the partners?

All organizations, schools, groups or firms can support this project in distributing information, in soliciting participation or in contributing directly. The list of partners will be published on our web site.

How can you become a partner?

Send us your e-mail address, the name of your school or organization, also the name of the person we should contact. If applicable, include the complete name of your organization and a note letting us know that you want us to mention your organization on our web site. We will keep you up to date on the developments of this project.

Who are the people behind this project?

This team is a combination of individuals and organizations: Voices and colours, Tendresse pour la Terre, dépanneur Sylvestre and the team at Atelier Nouveau Regard. This group includes parents, professionals, women and men, who feel the need to initiate a new “regard”, a new way of looking at the world and ourselves. We are people committed to accompanying others, who carry the hurts of rejection and being labeled as unacceptable by society..

Thank the Earth does not receive any subvention or funds from corporations. Everything is done by volunteers. The space for this web site is graciously given to us by Voices and colours, a nonprofit organization that encourages awareness, compassion and peaceful action, in reaction to social issues around us.

Who will respond

Help Wanted

For the short term, we need a hand helping us distribute this project to as many people as possible: individuals, schools and organizations, as quickly as possible.

We are also looking for photos to serve as inspiration for the drawings, that we are preparing, to trace and colour. We are looking for photos that represent the vulnerability and sensitivity of nature and life on earth: Landscapes, plants, animals, humans interacting respectfully with the earth, anything that can awaken a little compassion and tenderness towards our planet. Do you have travel pictures or photos you’ve found on the web or in a publication to share? Preferably digital photos or high resolution scans. These photos will not be published as they are. They will be used to create drawings for our earth day project.

In the cases where the sources were identified, we respected the rights of the photographers and their work. No photograph will be published. We consider however, the part of life or nature represented in the photo to be part of humanity, and this allows us to produce our drawings of these photos and offer them to the participants in our project for free on this site.
